Microsoft to takeover Yahoo ?

Nothing plus nothing makes...nothing. And on the subject of a possible takeover of Yahoo by Microsoft, that may be how many professional SEO folks feel, particularly those who get the vast bulk of their "free traffic" from Google and relatively little from MSN search or Yahoo.

Regarding MSN, the reason's cited by webmasters generally have to do with the comparatively low usage of that SE. Regarding Yahoo, it's been a fairly long running phenomenon that many sites that do well in G don't do so well in Y. And for confirmation of that, look around over at Webmaster World.

Still, a merger of M and Y doesn't exactly total nothing. Put them together and they have almost a third of the net's web traffic (that sounded sad as soon as I wrote it).
